Volleyball To Face Colorado in NCAA Tournament November 26, 2001
WASHINGTON The American volleyball team will play Colorado this Friday, Nov. 30, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (bracket) on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. The 2001 Eagles earned its first berth since the 1998 season after defeating Army, 3-1, on Nov. 18 for the Patriot League Championship title. Americans current record stands at 26-3, 14-0 in the Patriot League. The Eagles entered the Patriot League Championship as the No. 1 seed, having defeated each league foe in straight games (3-0) in both meetings during the regular season. Head coach Barry
Goldberg, in his 13th year at American, is leading a youthful Eagle
squad to the program's third trip to the national tournament. The Eagles stand
at 0-2 all-time in NCAA Tourament play, having dropped their opening round
match in 1997 to No. 21 Colorado State.
