WASHINGTON – American University women’s basketball players Chanel Hunt (Raleigh, N.C./ Ravenscroft) and Chanel Spriggs (Sunderland, Md./Northern) have been selected by the Patriot League’s coaches to the All-League Second-Team, PL officials announced Wednesday.

Hunt makes her second consecutive appearance on the league’s second team. She was also named to the league’s all-rookie team in her freshman campaign. Hunt leads the Eagles in scoring (11.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg). She also nabbed 67 steals in the regular season, third in the PL.

Junior forward Chanel Hunt leads the Eagles in scoring and rebounding, at 11.2 ppg and 7.1 rpg.

Spriggs earned her second-team nod for her offensive output, averaging 10.2 ppg, and for her defensive prowess. The 5-7 guard set AU’s career steals record this season and is third on the PL’s career steals list with 322. In addition, Spriggs is just seven steals away from the single-season record of 111 steals, which she set as a sophomore. Spriggs currently ranks second in the NCAA in steals per game (3.9).

Hunt, Spriggs and the rest of the Eagles on Friday square off against the U.S. Naval Academy in the first round of the Patriot League Championship Tournament. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
