Women's Lacrosse Tops St. Joseph's, 14-8

Seniors Ashley Flanigan (Sr., Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) and Bridget McGeady (Sr., Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) each scored four goals and Lindsay Cartin (Fr., West Chester, PA/Henderson) added two as American beat St. Joseph's, 14-8, yesterday in a non-conference women's lacrosse game in Philadelphia.

AU (5-6, 1-4 CAA) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and took a 6-2 lead at the half. The Eagles took charge in the second half as Flanigan scored four goals in a ten minute span to give AU a 12-3 lead with 19 minutes to play. SJU then scored four straight to get within five with 8:25 remaining. AU then scored two goals to put the game away.

In goal, Vicki Miller (Sr., Woodlyn, PA/Ridley) had eight saves for AU. Bernadette Smith had four goals, meanwhile, for the Hawks and Lauren Bradley made seven saves for SJU.

The Eagles next face #2 Loyola on Thu., Apr. 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Reeves Field.
