WASHINGTON — American University women’s lacrosse junior attacker Rebecca Copeland (Webster, N.Y./Webster) has been named to the weekly honor roll by WomensLacrosse.com for her accomplishments on the field, officials from the site announced Monday. Copeland, a 5-9 native of upstate New York, has led the Eagles offensively so far this season with a team-high 16 points, on 15 goals and one assist. She has put together a pair of five-goal games during this season, against Mount St. Mary’s in AU’s first win of the season and in the season-opener versus Towson University. Copeland also contributed two goals and her first assist of the season on Saturday in a 9-8 win over Patriot League foe Bucknell. In her third year with American, Copeland scored 43 goals and added seven assists for AU in 2003, the seventh-most points in a season in school history. She ranks sixth on AU’s career goals list, with 63, just three tallies from fifth place, and eighth on the school’s all-time points list, 15 points out of fifth place. As a team, American is 2-3 overall, 1-0 in the Patriot League, and the Eagles are riding a two-game win streak. AU squares off with La Salle tomorrow, March 17, at 3:30 p.m. on Temple’s Geasey Field.
