American University Head Wrestling Coach Mark Cody will lead one team and several individual practices at the Olympic training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo.

WASHINGTON - American University Head Wrestling Coach Mark Cody will watch the Olympics in August, but for him it will be a little bit different- three of his former wrestlers from his tenure at Oklahoma State University and Nebraska will be competing for the Gold, including Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Rulon Gardner.

Cody, who coached Gardner for six years, will spend time before the Games helping the 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist and 2001 World Champion train, as he oversees an Olympic Team practice and several individual practices in Colorado Springs, Colo. ...

Tom Kniezewski

WASHINGTON -- Tom Kniezewski walks around like he’s got nothing but time to kill. His walk is slow but deliberate and there’s not a hint of anxiety or excitement in his face. His black and gold parka is bundled up so that the collar just grazes his ears to protect them from the ice and snow that is freshly fallen one February Friday afternoon. While the rest of the student population has this winter day off, he’s come to practice prepared, and there’s no reason to hurry.

A freshman on the American University wrestling team, Kniezewski, by label of a Division 1 student-athlete, is a very busy individual. The starting 141-lbs. wrestler for the Eagles, he has proved to be a steadying force on a team that earned its first win four months into the season on a wrestling team with just 10 practicing members competing in the nation’s oldest wrestling conference, the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association. ...
