American Wrestling Defeats Binghamton 29-19, Falls to East Stroudsburg and VMI at ESU Invitational
Eagles move to 2-6 in dual meets this season

WASHINGTON -- American wrestling moved to 2-6 overall this season after defeating Binghamton and falling to the Virginia Military Institute and East Stroudsburg this weekend at the East Stroudsburg Invitational. The Eagles had a 29-19 team victory over Binghamton, in which Willie Harris (125 by forfeit), Marc Hoffer (149 by pin at 4:06), Mike Reish (165) by 9-1 major decision), Aaron Baker (174 by 6-34 decision), Kyle Mason (184 by 17-8 major decision), and Jared Hyman (285 by pin at 4:45) all notched victories.

Hoffer, who entered the meet ranked No. 14 in the nation by InterMat at 149 lbs., recorded three pins in his three matches at the quad meet. Against East Stroudsburg, Hoffer pinned Keith Kleckner at 2:38, then in the second session he pinned John Burton of VMI at 4:02, and finally took down Joe Gartiser of Binghamton at 4:06 in his final match of the day.

In American's loss to VMI (35-12), Harris had a 2-1 decision over Juan Sanchez at 125 lbs., while heavyweight Jared Hyman also had a 7-2 decision over David Walker. In the 30-12 loss to East Stroudsburg, it was again Harris and Hyman along with Hoffer earning team points for the Eagles. Harris had a 9-4 decision over Jon Clouser whiel Hyman had a 6-5 take of Marc Bauknecht.

The Eagles will travel to Harrisonburg, Va., this Tuesday, Jan. 15 to face James Madison in a dual meet starting at 7 p.m.
