American Wrestling Participates in Keystone Classic
Eagles earn 11.5 team points in second tournament of season

PHILADELPHIA, PA. -- The American wrestling team participated in its second tournament of the 2001-02 season on Nov. 18 at the annual Keystone Clasic held at the University of Pennsylvania. Six Eagle wrestlers, including Matt Pelligrino, WiIlie Harris, Victor Acquaah-Harrison, Ty Royer, Aviv Berkovicz and Aaron Baker competed at the tournament.

Senior Harris had the strongest showing for the Eagles, finishing in sixth place in the consolation bracket at 125 pounds. He defeated Ryan Gill of Brown in the first round to advance to the second, and then defeated Greg Benz from Penn and Mike Crooks from the Penn in his consolation matches to finish 3-2 on the day.

Sophomore Pelligrino also competed in the 125 slot, and advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket before falling to Mike Crooks of Penn. He finished at 0-2 on the day.

Sophomore Baker had a bye in his first round match at 174 pounds before falling to Nick Catone of Rider. In the consolation bracket, he used two byes to advance to the third round and then fell to Adam Santee of Brown to finish at 0-2 on the day. Acquaah-Harrison (133 pounds) and Ty Royer (149 pounds) also finished the day at 0-2.

The Eagles will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for the Las Vegas Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 1 held at the University of Las Vegas. The team's first dual meet of 2001-02 will be on Thursday, Dec. 6 at home versus local foe George Mason.
