Eagles to face Wagner next

NORFOLK, Va. -- The American University wrestling team lost to Old Dominion Friday night at the ODU Field House, 42-6.

In the Monarchs' home dual opener, AU earned its only points on a forfeit at the 141-lb. division. American heavyweight Jared Hyman (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) was impressive for the Eagles, losing a close 4-3 to ODU's Derrell Lorthridge in the heavyweight division.

AU's Adam Montgomery (Belmont, Calif./Junipero Serra) fell 11-4 to Ben Summerlin at 174-pounds while Matt Pelligrino (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) lost to John Starkes at 125-lb. with a 15-6 major decision.

American will head to Wagner on February 2 for a 12 p.m. start. The Eagles' final home meet is on February 12 against Maryland.
