American Wrestlers Cruise Past Wagner, 36-15
Hyman and Kniezewski record wins by fall for the Eagles

American University's Tom Kniezewski registered a win by fall at 141 this weekend.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Opening up with a 21-0 lead, the American University wrestling team clinched a 36-15 win over Wagner College Sunday afternoon.

Junior Jared Hyman (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) and freshman Tom Kniezewski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) had wins by fall over the Seahawks. Junior Matt Pelligrino (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) and freshman Eric Levine (Newton, Mass./Newton South) started off with back-to-back wins by forfeit in the 125- and 133-lbs. divisions, respectively. Kniezewski then pinned Gene Ronkiewicz at 2:10 in the first to expand the lead to 18-0.

AU junior Aviv Bercovicz (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township) then recorded an 11-4 win over Rob Markuske at 149-lbs. Junior Aaron Baker (Amarillo, Texas/Tascosa) defeated PJ Richard, 11-3, before sophomore Kyle Mason (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) defeated Ryan Haynes, 18-3, at 184-lbs.

The Eagles will head to George Mason on Tuesday, Feb. 4 for a 7:30 p.m. start. American's final home meet is on February 12 against Maryland.
