Kniezewski, Waters and Hyman Take Home Only Victories of Va. Duals
Waters ranked No. 19 in 184 weight class

HAMPTON, Va.- Junior Daniel Waters (Laurel, Del./Penn State)was the only American University wrestler to take home two individual victories for the Eagles at the Virginia Duals on Friday after taking down Jason Trulson of Arizona State and Adam Wright of Old Dominion.

Waters, who was recently ranked No. 29 in the NCAA Division I Leglace poll for the week of Jan. 6, started the weekend off for the Eagles as he took down Trulson by way of a tech fall, 23-8 and then went on to defeat Wright with a 5-4 decision.

Tom Kniezewski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) also took home one of the only victories for the Eagles, after taking down Dennis Whitby of Old Dominion by way of a pin in 2:55.

Jared Hyman took home the last victory for the Eagles as he defeated Arizona State’s Clifford Starks in a 11-10 decision. Adam Montgomery (Belmont, Calif./Junipero Serra) fought hard for the Eagles as he fell in a 10-8 overtime decision to Robert Valentine, while senior Matt Pelligrino (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) also fought hard for a close 15-13 decision over Jared Smith.

The Eagles will next face Slippery Rock at 7 p.m. on Jan. 22.
