Waters
and Hyman Victories Not Enough For The Eagles
WASHINGTON – Senior Jared Hyman’s fall at 1:55 over Shawn Coughlin and a 16-5 decision by Daniel Waters was not enough for the AU wrestling team, as the Eagles fell to the Franklin and Marshall Diplomats, 16-31. Currently ranked sixth in the EIWA, Hyman’s victory improves his record for the season to 22-11. “Hyman is capable of wrestling like that every time he goes out there,” Head Coach Mark Cody said. “This is the Hyman that you see in the practice room everyday. He works hard and practices hard. He is capable of getting to the finals of the EIWA tournament if he goes out offensively like he did tonight.” Waters, who is currently tied for second on the NCAA win leaders list, picked up his 29th victory of the season. “We rested Waters all week,” Cody said. “He has not wrestled live because he is a little banged up. As usual, he came through because he wrestled hard.” Also taking home victories for the Eagles, sophomore Tom Kniezewski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) snagged his 18th win a dominating 10-3 decision over Franklin and Marshall’s Matt McConnell. Matt Pelligrino (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) also added another win with a 10-7 decision over Trent Dixon. The Eagles will return to action, Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Davidson Duals. F&M-31
