American
Womens Soccer Earns Two Player of the Week Awards September
23, 2001
Wootton, a senior forward, has scored in every contest for the Eagles
this season, including one game-winning goal made at Navy on Wednesday.
Her early score at 1:08 into the game proved to be enough for the Eagles,
who held on through a physically demanding game to come out with the 1-0
victory. Against Bucknell on Saturday, Wootton put the game out of reach
for the Eagles after scoring from 20 yards out off a flip from Sara Jagare.
Wootton has also made one assist and has 11 shots on goal through four
games. The Eagles travel to Richmond, Va., this Wednesday to face Virginia Commonwealth University at 7:00 p.m. They will then return to Reeves Field and play host to Binghamton this Sunday, Sept. 29 at 12:00 p.m. American University, which is in its inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League, officially joined the conference on July 1. The University, founded in 1893, fields a 19-sport Division I athletics program, featuring 10 womens sports and nine for men.
