RICHMOND, Va. — American University sophomore Erica Peters scored the lone goal for the women's soccer team in a 4-1 loss to Rutgers Sunday in the consolation game of the Wachovia Challenge.

The Eagles, which drop to 0-2, were represented on the All-Tournament Team by seniors Sara Jagare and Megan Monteith, and sophomore goalkeeper Jen Liese.

Peters fired a 12-yard shot into the left corner of the net just moment after entering the game to make it 2-1. But the Scarlet Knights put the game out of reach for AU with two more goals in the final eight minutes of the match.

Scoreless after a half, RU scored its first goal in the 51st minute and tacked on a second when Carli Lloyd beat Liese in a one-on-one situation.

The Eagles host Mount St. Mary’s Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their 2002 home opener at Reeves Field.
