Score 5 in Second Half Win over Stony Brook
WASHINGTON - Junior Anabel Jimenez scored three goals - her first tallies of the season - as the American University women's soccer team came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Stony Brook 5-1 Sunday at Reeves Field. AU (2-3-1) produced just three shots in the first half but woke up in the latter with 15 to outshoot the Sea Wolves by an 18-8 margin. American goalkeeper Jen Liese made five saves and let up the lone SB score as Lauren Wohl posted 12 minutes of relief work in net. Freshman Simone Konig tied the game at 1-apiece five minutes into the second half off a direct kick. Junior Savannah Rennels recorded her seventh of the season off a lofted cross from Jimenez in the 61st minute. Rennels then returned the favor eight minutes later to Jimenez. Her second goal was opportunistic as she took a cue off a Stony Brook keeper Ashley Blake's mishandle on a shot. Konig added her fourth assist of the season on the final goal. American will host UMBC on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
