ODU Scores Twice Early En Route to Win Over American
Despite 14 shots on goal, AU held scoreless

Senior midfielder Megan Monteith had three shots for the Eagles.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Lady Monarchs scored twice in the first seven minutes of the game (all five goals came in the first half) and went on to a 5-0 win over AU. The American women’s soccer team put 14 shots on net, but were unable to score off of either ODU keeper. The loss snapped a two-game AU winning streak.

Senior Megan Monteith (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor), freshman Natalie Rodovsky (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and junior Savannah Rennels (Rector, Pa./Latrobe Area/Bucknell) each had three shots on goal to lead AU.

AU sophomore goalkeeper Jen Liese (Rushland, PA/Council Rock) notched two saves in 31 minutes before leaving due to injury. Junior Lauren Wohl (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air/Bucknell) came in for Lies and registered two saves and gave up just two goals over the last 56 minutes.

ODU was led by sophomore Ashley Kramer (Jefferson Hills, PA), who scored a pair of goals. Maua Linz (Prospect, KY) set an ODU record with four assists.

American (3-4-1) will next play at George Washington on September 25.
