Jimenez Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
Picks up second hat trick in college career

Anabel Jimenez picked up her second career hat trick versus Lafayette.

WASHINGTON - American University’s Anabel Jimenez (Kensington, Md./Bullis) earned the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor after she scored three goals to help the Eagles defeat Lafayette in the snow last week by one goal, 3-2.

The win over Lafayette clinched a Patriot League playoff berth for the Eagles. It was Jimenez’ second career hat trick and her second game-winning goal in less than a week. She also netted the winner versus Bucknell on October 26th and scored three goals against Stony Brook on Sept. 15th.

Jimenez now has five goals in seven conference games and she leads the league at 0.71 goals per game.

AU will play Navy at West Point on November 8th at 5:00 p.m. in the first round of the Patriot League Championship.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, is in its second year of membership in the Patriot League.
