American Defeated by Tigers
Elnabawi scores first goal of season

Maha Elnabawi brought the Eagles to within one goal in the second half, but it was not enough.

WASHINGTON — American University's Maha Elnabawi (Herndon, Va./Oakton) scored her first goal of the season from 20 yards out to bring AU to within a goal (2-1) early in the second half. However, Princeton scored two more goals late and came away with a 4-1 victory.

Elnabawi took four shots in the game and came close to scoring on her other three attempts. Simone Konig (Gartringen, Germany/School of Economics in Boblingen) also had four shots on goal.

The Eagles were outshot by the Tigers 24-12 for the game, but played Princeton much tougher in the second half.

Freshman Alison Doyle (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Catholic) made her second start in the nets and faced 24 shots by the Tigers, coming away with five saves.

AU will next play at home against George Washington on Wednesday, September 10, at 4:00 p.m.
