Coaches Head Coach:
Michael
Brady (American '92)
The most decorated player in the history of American University soccer, Michael Brady begins his fourth season at the helm of the Eagles program as it aims for its first Patriot League Championship. Brady was named the 1985 NCAA Mens Player of the Year by Soccer America and received the Adi Dassler award from Adidas as the top collegiate player of the year. The three-time NCAA All-America selection is one of only a select few NCAA student-athletes in any sport to be named Player of the Year in three different conferences (East Coast, ECAC-South and CAA). A member of the U.S. National team from 1984-86, Brady swept two of the three major individual awards a collegiate soccer player can achieve. I am excited to be a member of the staff at American University, Brady said. The growth of the athletics program has been tremendous over the past several years and I look forward to continuing that movement. AU is a part of a premier womens soccer market while serving as an internationally renowned academic institution. Prior to assuming the reigns of the womens soccer program at AU, Brady spent three years as director of the Premier Soccer Association based in McLean, Va., which develops year-round clinics and summer camps in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Previously, Brady was the head coach at The Potomac School in McLean for four years. Bradys first coaching stint at the collegiate level came during the 1991 season when he was the head coach of the AU womens soccer team. During that season, Brady led the second-year program to a respectable 6-10 record. A 1992 graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in communications, Brady led the 1985 AU mens soccer team to the NCAA Championship final in Seattle, Wash. He finished his illustrious career with AU records of 65 goals and 29 assists for 159 career points. His 24 goals during his senior campaign in 1985 is also an Eagle school record. A native of Coventry, England, Brady also participated in the National Sports Festival, World University Games and the ISAA Senior Soccer Bowl. American University
retired Bradys No. 14 during pre-game ceremonies on September 17,
1986, and he was inducted into AUs Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.
Brady and his wife, Dori, reside in Falls Church, Va., with their son, Nicholas (3), and daughter, Noelani (1).
