Alan Blackwell begins his second season with the American University women’s soccer program as a member of Head Coach Mike Brady’s staff. He is responsible for overseeing the development of the Eagle goalkeepers, on-field instruction and the planning and implementation of training sessions.

Blackwell is returning to American where he was the assistant men’s soccer coach from 1984-85. While at American, he studied for a masters degree in art.

Blackwell has spent the last two years working and teaching in London, England where he was the youth coach at the American School in London. While in England, Blackwell also coached the Fine Arts College men’s team.

A former NAIA All-American at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Blackwell graduated in 1982. He has played local amatuer soccer, including an appearance at the U.S. Open Cup Finals with the British Embassy.

Blackwell will be pursuing a graduate certificate in secondary education with an ambition to work in the international school system.

Blackwell currently resides in Washington, D.C.
