Women's Tennis Takes Home First Home Victory of Spring Season

WASHINGTON
- Senior Kristina
Georgieva (Sofia, Bulgaria/Stefan Karadja) defeated Towson's Sarah
Dumansky in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match in the No. 1 singles position to
help the Eagles to the team's first home victory of the season and to
improve their record to an even 6-6 overall.
Georgieva also took home a second victory for the Eagles in the No. 2
doubles position, defeating Katie Long and Kelly Parsons, 8-2, with partner
Kirsten Wegel (New Canaan, Conn./New
Canaan High School).
Also helping the team earn the doubles point, Sasha
Zerkalova (Moscow, Russia/Moscow High School) and Julia
Colarusso (Downington, Pa./Downington High School) took home a
8-1 victory over Dumansky and Pamela Zeger in the No. 1 position.
In singles, the Eagles took the three top spots, with Zerkalova defeating
Zeger in the No. 2 spot in an even 6-1, 6-1, while Colarusso defeated
Parsons at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0.
In the No. 6 position, Ashley Wroten
(San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan High School) rounded out the victories
for the Eagles, defeating Morgan Sugar-Butter, 6-1, 6-1.
The AU women's tennis team will next face off against James Madison University,
Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m.
