WASHINGTON
- Senior Katarina Kollarova
(Vinicne, Slovakia/Valparaiso) has been named Patriot League Women’s
Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second time in two years,
the league’s sports information directors announced, Monday.
Kollarova is joined by nine of her teammates of the Patriot League
Academic Honor Roll.
Kollarova, the Patriot League Tournament Co-Most Valuable Player,
earned a 3.94 grade-point average in business administration and
helped lead the Eagles to the program's second NCAA tournament in
three years.

Georgieva does not remember the first time she picked
up a tennis racket, her mother tells her that she was only a baby
when she stepped onto the court and she certainly hasn’t stepped
off since. Her father, a former Junior Bulgarian National Champion
has been a tennis coach since she was born, which meant for this
former ninth ranked senior woman [in Bulgaria] it has “always
been about the tennis.”
As she looks back Georgieva refers to her first tournament, when
she was just 10 years old, as a “center court disaster”.
She was so anxious to be there that she even forgot you do not switch
chairs during every break and was constantly getting up and down.
Unfortunately, the match ended quickly and at that young age she
learned you do not win every time and you and that you occasionally
have to lose. ...
