American Wins Salty Dog Invitational
Carlstrom, Baclawski and Taylor finish top three

Keira Carlstrom claimed the individual title at the Salty Dog Invitational.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.
-- Keira Carlstrom won the Salty Dog Invitational by nearly two seconds over teammates Jen Baclawski and Kelley Taylor. In addition to the top three finishers, AU also grabbed two other top ten finishes.

Carlstrom ran 19:05.94 and the next competitor who was not a teammate was nearly 35 seconds behind. Baclawski finished in a time of 19:07.93 while Taylor, in her first race as an Eagle, came in at 19:38.53.

Whitney McNees was 8th at 19:52.92 while teammate Zaia Wharton finished 9th at 19:54.72. Also competing for AU was Leah Heinecke-Krumhus, who finished 23rd at 20:34.12 and Jessica Daniel, who was 31st in a time of 21:15.76. Kaitlyn Lavender finished 41st in a time of 23:57.61.

The individual title was the first in cross country in Carlstrom's career. Her previous best finish was second place at last year's Maryland Invitational.

American returns to action next weekend at the Navy Invitational held in Annapolis, Md.
