Your e-mail Synchronize Your Password Blackboard More Help

1. YOUR E-MAIL:

All students have an AU e-mail account.  If you plan to use your AU account as your primary e-mail account, you need do nothing.

However, if you intend to use an AOL, hotmail, earthlink, etc. account, you will need to have your AU mail forwarded.  If you have not already done this, go to http://my.american.edu , enter your Eaglenet ID and Eaglenet Password, click on "communications" and then on "forward my e-mail."  Type in the address to which you would like your e-mail forwarded.

This is very important, as we will use your AU Account for all messages relating to this class.

2.  SYNCHRONIZE YOUR PASSWORD:

Synchronizing your AU passwords will allow for transparent access to your AU Notes email account.

To synchronize your password, go to http://my.american.edu. When you log in, your passwords will be synchronized and made the same for: the Web portal, your Novell network log-in, your Blackboard log-in and your Internet password.

3.  Blackboard:

Much of the work of the class will be conducted through Blackboard, the University's preferred "course management" software.  Blackboard provides a virtual classroom environment where you may find a link to this syllabus and other course materials.  Blackboard also provides "discussion forums" in which you will be required to post your weekly assignments and comment on the work of your classmates.

To access Blackboard, you must go to my.american.edu, enter your Eaglenet ID and Password, click on "My Academics" and then on "My Blackboard."  Login, again using your ID and Password.  Click on History 207.  Follow the instructions.  You may also go directly to Blackboard by clicking on: http://ausolaris1.american.edu:8090/?bbatt=Y
