2.  Conference at University of Maryland:  On October 8-11, the University of  Maryland at College Park will be hosting a conference entitled:  "State of the Arts: Production, Reception, and Teaching in the Digital World.   (If you can attend, I will try to arrange to have some or all of your registration fee paid.  Please let me know at your earliest convenience.)

    A.  Colleges and Universities today seem to be under considerable stress.  What are some of the sources of that stress?

    B.  Robert Barr and John Tagg, in a 1995 magazine in Change magazine, talk about a "paradigm shift" from an "Instructional Paradigm" to a "Learning Paradigm."  What are some of the characteristics of the two paradigms (IP,LB)?
