About Switzerland

Switzerland is a small country in the center of Western Europe.  It shares land borders with Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein.  It is 41,290 kilometers squared in size and has a population of seven  million people, one million of which are foreigners.  The official languages of Switzerland are German, French, Italian and Romansch and is therefore called Die Schweiz, La Suisse, La Svizzera and La Svizra.  The official name is Confoederatio Helvetica CH, which is Latin.  The Federal capital of Switzerland is Bern
and the largest and the largest city is Zurich,
which is an international financial center.  Geneva, the largest city located in the French part, is home to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and the International Committee for the Red Cross.  Despite the international area, Switzerland is neither a member of the United Nations or the European Union and is infamous for its neutrality in foreign policy.  Switzerland is also noted for its craftsmanship in time pieces, international banking and ski resorts.
