Qatar's telecommunications systems gives non IT firms an advantage. Through the Internet and e-commerce, Qatari businesses can actively market their products around the world. Q-tel is currently developing in its infrastructure to make its network more efficient and increase its bandwidth in order to cater to the blossoming Internet and e-commerce use in the country. For now, mainly large companies and the government are using the Internet. With increase usage, especially with the younger generation of Qataris (virtually all of them access to a computer and the Internet), the country will become one of the technology leaders in the Gulf area. Many companies are seeing the advantages of using technology such as the case of KFC Qatar.GIS is also becoming useful for companies as information is become more accessible in the country. GIS information is currently only available to government agencies and nationally owned businessess. The State of Qatar will make the information available to all in the following few years through an interactive web site. The information available on the site would help construction and development companies as well as agribusiness's.
