Analysis: Impacts on the IT Business

As briefly stated in the Analysis on Impacts on the non-IT Business, IT businesses face an uncertain future after the attacks on September 11 in the United States.  Notwithstanding this event and the recent natural disasters in El Salvador, IT businesses will likely face an uphill battle as the economy attempts to regain its lost momentum.  Other facets are in place to support the growth of the ICT sector.  The legal environment is favorable for the ICT industry with legislation protecting intellectual property, trademarks and copyrights.  The government has also established agencies for the support of the ICT industry.  As the telephony infrastructure is rebuilt, the environment will be prime for considerable growth in the ICT industry in El Salvador.

Ultimately, the economic situation of El Salvador's major trading partners (such as the U.S.) will dictate the economic climate for El Salvador.  A healthy economy in the United States will foster a greater chance for economic stability and growth in El Salvador, which in turn will favor growth in the information and communications industry.
