Most Internet use is highly concentrated among educators, students and the wealthy.  No specific government programs were found that encouraged or supported Internet use among the general population.  In May 2000, Telemovil announced that it would begin to offer high-speed wireless Internet services to more than 50,000 customers.  Telemovil is a private cellular provider in El Salvador.
