First, while attending Secondary School in Accra, one of the assigned books for students studying English Literature in my school was, a book written by Nelson Mandela before he want to prison. The book is call "No easy way to freedom." In the book, Mandela talk about the evils of apartheid in both South Africa and Namibia. Second, before the independence of Namibia,
the main independence movement was South West Africa People Organization
(SWAPO) had a representative in Accra, who used to public lectures and
talked about what was going on in Namibia. It was at one of
those lectures that, I became interested in Namibia. And, of course,
I watch the independence celebration on television in Accra on March 21th,
1990.
