Application Service Provider (ASP) refers to a company that hosts applications on central servers. Customers pay a subscription fee to access these applications either via the Internet or a private network. The ASP model consists of 3 service parts – application hosting, application delivery and application technical support. Web-based SCM is currently being offered by some of the main vendors in the SCM software systems market.
