Analysis: Impacts on Business

The slow pace of IT adoption in The Bahamas suggests that patience is required for any business requiring high-tech communication that is considering establishing a location there. The financial services and tourism sectors will be first to incorporate IT.

Staying Connected

Bahamas On-Line, a subsidiary company of Systems Resources Group (SRG), is introducing a series of products in line with global technology advances. The first such product is ERoam, an internet roaming service allowing users to access the Internet and their email almost anywhere in the world. This has extended the company's Internet access network to more than 40,000 access points in 150 countries. Subscribers can dial a local number when travelling to access their Bahamas On-Line email and browse the web -- avoiding long distance charges.
