Privacy of financial information has been protected for years in the Bahamas and as technology develops, data privacy will no doubt be included in this protection. The Bahamas Financial Services Board Working Group on E-Commerce has been presented with the drafts for proposed legislation, including a Data Protection (Privacy of Information) Act 2000. The Working Group will be submitting industry input to the Ministry of Finance once review of the draft legislation is completed.
