IT Service intermediaries use enabling
technologies to provide transaction,
content, and other software and
network capabilities. These technologies are
marketed by organizations such
as TRADEX Technologies, The Sun/Netscape
Alliance and so on. These intermediaries
use information publishing tools,
business process workflow features,
transaction capabilities and payment services.
Some of the software can be bought
off the shelf, while some intermediaries prefer
to custom build the software. Nowadays
much of the focus lies on distributed object
technology. Distributed object
systems provide a key to building interoperable
applications that can execute on
a range of platforms. An example would be a CORBA-based electronic intermediary
software.
