| About Egypt |
IT has proven itself quite amenable to the Gestalt philosophy of "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." In an attempt to achieve maximum synergies for economic growth and regional development objectives, the high technology center is a common element of many high technology incentive plans. High Technology Centers The creation
of high technology centers in Egypt allows the government to pursue a number
of development objectives simultaneously. Through the provision of
tax incentives, superior infrastructure and geographic proximity the government
hopes to provide a catalyst for the nascient high technology sector.
By locating these centers away from the densely populated urban centers
it is hoped that the high technology core industries and the surrounding
support service sectors will alleviate urban overcrowding and disperse
growth more evenly throughout the nation. To this end,
The SVT project is to be a 72 million square meter high-technology park that is expected to generate an additional $2.5 billion to GDP by the turn of the century, with $1.5 billion generated through exports. (AmCham) |
