Notes for Contributors

 

JPD will be printed two times per year. JPD is a refereed journal with a panel of international Editorial Advisors and Readers. All articles are read by two or three referees, and the editors. We welcome the following types of contributions at any time of the year:

Articles submitted to the Journal should be original contributions. Please clearly indicate if article is under consideration by another publisher at the time of submission. Articles are read by 2-3 outside reviewers, and the editors. Briefings are also read by one reviewer. Articles covering the following categories will be considered:

   

Critical Themes and Case Analysis – critical case studies and/or thematic discussion and analysis of topical peacebuilding and development themes. 7,000 word maximum, including references and endnotes.

Briefings – discussions of 1) training, peacebuilding and intervention strategies and impact, 2) policy review/analysis, or 3) Country briefings. 2000 word maximum.

Book reviews -- critical assessments of new books that integrate peacebuilding and development concerns. 1,500 word maximum.

Resources – notices of new books, reports, upcoming conferences and workshops, videos, e-communications and websites. 150 word maximum.

Documents – Declarations, communiqués, and other relevant NGO or multilateral organization statements.1,000 word maximum.

Presentation

  1. Submit abstracts and articles to JPD by e-mail, typed on a word-processing software, preferable MS Word 6 or higher. If you send in WordPerfect, please ensure it is Word compatible. All submissions should come by email to each of the following emails: erin@jpd.org.zw; abunimer@american.edu;
    cc: production@jpd.org.zw; jpd@american.edu.
  2. Give full name, institutional affiliation of authors(s), all contact details including email and telephone number, and brief details of recent relevant work experience. Also provide a 150 word or less abstract.
  3. Use the Harvard System of referencing. References should be placed in the text where possible (author date: page). Notes should be limited to then, and must be placed at the end of the article, as endnotes. References should be complete and in alphabetical order (author, date, title, place of publication, publisher).
  4. Submit charts and graphics in eps or jpeg format.
  5. Copyright of articles published in the Journal rests with JPD.

Copyright

  As a condition of publication, authors publishing in JPD must vest copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in JPD. This enables us to ensure the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats, while maintaining full copyright protection. Authors may use their article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from the Journal of Peacebuilding and Development, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as the original source of publication, and that JPD is notified and provided with a copy of the new publication.

  Please contact the editors for information on current rates. JPD offers a special rate for Southern organizations. Northern NGOs and multilateral organizations are asked to pay US$50.00 for 150 word advertisements on conference and workshop announcements within the resources section
