Trade in cultural and
media products is growing as are disputes related to them. Canada
has proposed a special set of rules for such products that has
evoked a broad span of reaction. Canada and the US are involved
in a long standing dispute over cultural products – Sports
Illustrated! The guest is Joseph Campbell for the School of Communications
at American University. He discusses freedom of the press issues
and trade and has a special focus on freedom of the press in Africa.
The case is the dispute over media issues between the United States
and Canada. The dispute involves country music and the rival US
and Canadian views of authenticity and trade barriers.
