Children's Literature
Children's literature
is an extremely important part of education. A good book can
change any
child's mind about reading and get them interested in being part of a
literate community.
Children's literature comes in all forms: picture books, chapter
books,
series, humorous, serious; basically, you name it, it's out there.
It is a
wonderful
resource to aid lessons taught in other curricula areas, including
social studies, science, music, and mathematics. Books can bring
a lesson to life and
make
it a reality for kids. Also, books help them not only with academics,
but other
issues
important in their everyday lives. Some of these include: divorce,
death, and
growing
up. Below I've chosen some of my favorite children's authors that
have
had an impact
both on me and my students. This page is designed for students,
parents, teachers,
