Welcome!
On behalf of faculty, students and alumni at American University, it
is my pleasure to welcome you to the Europe Council. Our goal is to
coordinate interdisciplinary curricula, research projects, initiatives,
and events centering on Europe. We bring together a pan-European focus
covering West Europe, Russian and Central and Eastern Europe with specialized
emphasis on the study of European languages, culture, economy and society
as an integral component of graduate and undergraduate education. We
hope that some of the new initiatives will enhance and enrich your experience
at American University.
We are pleased to offer a full program of activities for the academic
year through two venues, the Europe Council and the Europe Forum. We
are continually working to provide new academic opportunities, activities
and information that links to career opportunities. We see the Europe
Council as part of the University efforts to strengthen our international
profile and experience. We hope that you will participate in our various
activities including speaker series, curricular innovations, and study
abroad programs. We welcome students, faculty and alumni to all our
events listed on the following pages. Please contact us if you would
like to co-sponsor events on campus, as this type of collaboration is
a source of our collective engagement on campus.
