Call for Application for the 2008 Manfred Woerner Seminar The seminar is designed to examine German and European Security Policy and discuss common U.S.-German and U.S.-European security interests. It brings talented young American professionals to Europe to meet with their German counterparts and promote close personal contact between them. Candidates typically come from national or local governments, the media, business, and the nonprofit sector. Participants should be between 25 and 35 years of age at the time of travel and have an outstanding record of achievement in their profession. NEW! NSF FUNDED SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES The NSF-funded Central Europe Summer Research Institute Program competition is now open. Program Overview Funded by the National Science Foundation, the CESRI program sends enrolled U.S. graduate students in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, or mathematics for 8 weeks to receive a relevant laboratory experience in Central Europe in the sciences. In the past two years, grantees have travelled to Central Europe to work on a wide range of projects, from studying the properties of Roman concrete, studying genes that confer disease resistance and working on improved data transmission on wireless networks.
