AU Abroad’s Prestigious Partners
AU’S “WORLD CAPITALS PROGRAM” was transformed in 2003 and renamed “AU Abroad.” One of the goals of the revamped program was to encourage AU students to become more fully immersed in another country’s local culture, through homestays, internships, or directly enrolling in some of the world’s most prestigious universities.
Direct enrollment provides an opportunity to learn about a foreign country that is not available in any other way. “AU students who enroll at the top-ranked international institutions and take courses with their local counterparts greatly enhance their undergraduate experience,” noted AU Abroad Director Sara Dumont.
Another critical goal of the revamped program was to lift the academic quality of AU’s study abroad options. As illustrated in the chart, AU Abroad partners currently include 26 of the top universities in the world. Impressively, AU is partnered with eight of Australia’s top 14 schools; five of Canada’s top 12 schools; and five of the United Kingdom’s top 10 schools.
According to Dr. Dumont, students have had exceptional experiences studying at Oxford University, King’s College London, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and the University of New South Wales. “We are thrilled that more AU students are opting to study at these outstanding institutions and fully integrate into the local culture, and even more excited at how well they are doing,” she said.
