Overview:
Today's global economy is rapidly shifting from business strongly focused on natural resources, software development, hardware manufacturing, and to service-based industries, particularly those using information and communication technology. These rapid changes open up new development opportunities for Mongolia, and the digital highway could bring many blessings to the landlocked country. However, to benefit from it, action has to be taken soon.
Generally speaking, Mongolia is actively seeking to engage in software development in the recent yearsr, but there are no hardware manufacturing and research and development (R&D) activities as of this year.
Future of Software Development, Hardware Developmet, and R&D:
The essence of the science and technology information policy is to create information supply infrastructure and ensure its operational procedures and mechanism to enable effective use of science and technology information resources for national economic development. For this purpose the results of the research and development works accumulated at the research institutions need to be transferred to an electronic form and works should be organized for expanding the user's group and benefits to the users.
The measures are being taken to promote domestic companies that will supply their products to both domestic and international market through establishing technopark and incubators of information technology.
It is necessary to establish a centralized science and technology information network and a database to expand the future of information communications technology and improve their utilization.
