Telecommunications are spread all of the country in Venezuela; there is not one central location similar to the Silicon Valley in the United States. One of the biggest reasons for IT growth in Venezuela is the increase in international oil and petrochemical companies in the country. Since these companies are located in rural and remote locations, it is as important to have telecommunications in the cities and in rural areas.

 Most of the international companies are using satellites to reach the needed remote locations, since CANTV has not completed wiring many areas. Therefore, many of the remote and rural locations are as advanced as the cities.
