BANGALORE

STPI-Bangalore is the first STP set up in India. It is also the first center which had video conferencing facility. The city is very well connected by rail, flight and road to all the important cities in India. The city also has the second largest software and IT professionals in India. The International Tech Park in Bangalore represents the cooperative efforts of two countries - Singapore and India. Combining the urban development expertise of Singapore with the competitive advantage of India, the technology park is one of the most advanced in India. Embodying the ‘work-live-play’ concept, it integrates high-tech, state of the art office and production facilities, park-like condominium apartments and a country club.

STPI- Bangalore has two  sub centers: Mysore and Manipal. STPI-Manipal is one of the international Gateways located in  PAI Planetarium Building Manipal.(27) It started operations in November 1999. Manipal city is known for technical and medical education. It  is 65 Kms away from Mangalore. The nearest railway Station is Udupi and Airport is Mangalore.

STPI-Mysore was inaugurated on 1st Nov 1998 by Prime minister Shri.Atal Behari Vajapayee . The Gateway Satellite Earth station was commissioned and operations were started from 17th March 1999.  STPI-Mysore was started with a novel aim of promoting Software exports from Secondary cities. This was a move that will go a long way in tapping the available global potential in the Software market in the long term perspective. The biggest gain, though Intangible , is the positive impact it will have on the Economic and Social development in these cities.

STPI Mysore started its operations with 2 companies (Comat Infoscribe and Software Paradigm India Ltd.) registered in 1998-99 with meager Software exports of 80 Lakhs. There was a steady growth from then onwards and as on date Mysore has 24 STP units including INFOSYS and L&T, and 1 EHTP unit. Mysore is well known for it’s good educational Institutions. There are four Engineering colleges and Many Polytechnics, which  supply quality Knowledge workers for the Industry. There are two Management Institutes. City is well known for its standard of Living. Climate is very pleasant.  All the basic amenities are there for quality life. Biggest advantage is it’s proximity to Bangalore, the silicon valley of Asia.
