Hardware, Software,Telecommunication, Chips, Boards
PC computer manufacturers such as JCC and Optimus are mainly exporting personal computers to other Eastern European countries. However this export is limited. As firms like this grow it is likely that these exports will grow. Software is another export area which is gaining ground and is due to improve as international lines get more reliable. Unfortunatly I found little in this area.
For importers the following note from the foreign commercial service is interesting. As a result of Poland's Association Agreement with the European Union (EU) (signed in November 1991), and similar agreements with CEFTA and EFTA countries, the customs duty on products from these countries are considerably lower than on products originating in the United States. All telecommunications equipment and parts, as well as computers and other equipment is also subject to a 22% value-added tax. Telecommunications services are subject to a 7% VAT. Poland has established a duty free quota for telecommunication parts and components used for assembly of telecommunication equipment, equal to an amount of ECU 176.5 million ($300 million) per year. In order to benefit from this 0 custom duty, a Polish importer has to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations for the quota. A complete list of commodities is available at the Commercial Service. 20
