"10 Years of Israel Scholarship at American University —
60 Years of Israel's Statehood"

The Center for Israel Studies invites you to join our celebration with the following gift opportunities to commemorate the 60th birthday of the state of Israel in 2008, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Center.  The gift opportunities set forth below will be the highlights of Center programming in 2008 and will provide a solid foundation for the study of Israel’s achievements as a modern nation state.

Lecture Series in 2008   $15,000

The Center for Israel Studies will present a series of named lectures in a variety of venues across campus in order to reach all segments of the university community, including the College of Arts and Sciences, School of International Service, School of Public Affairs, Kogod School of Business, School of Communication, and the Washington College of Law. The lectures will bring experts in fields such as the social sciences, politics, literature, government, law, business, journalism, science and technology to the corresponding university academic units. The goal of these lectures will be to explore contemporary Israeli society and scholarship. Each lecture will provide a naming opportunity.

Art Exhibition at Katzen Arts Center   $25,000-50,000

With this exhibition naming opportunity, the Center for Israel Studies, in cooperation with the Katzen Arts Center, will bring the work of an Israeli artist to the Katzen museum from April 1 through May 18, 2008. The exhibit will be designed to showcase the work of a contemporary Israeli artist, revealing a unique aspect of life in Israel. The timing of the exhibition is planned for maximum exposure to the American University and broader community. It will take place during graduation season and will coincide with Israel Independence Day celebrations throughout the nation in April.

Performing Arts Residency   $50,000-75,000

The Center, in cooperation with the Performing Arts Department at American University, plans on bringing an acclaimed Israeli performer to campus. An actor or dancer will be a visiting artist in residence who will work with students and stage a performance for the community in spring 2008. This naming opportunity will allow students to study with and learn from one of Israel’s accomplished performers in theater or dance.

Performance at Katzen Arts Center   $50,000-75,000

As part of the community-wide celebrations commemorating Israel's 60th birthday, the Center will present an internationally acclaimed Israeli dance or theater performance to the campus and broader community in spring 2008. This naming opportunity will give the campus and the community exposure to world-renowned Israeli performing arts companies and will highlight Israel’s accomplishments in the arts.
