YOGA
Yoga, as taught at Jacobs Fitness Center, is an introduction to Hatha yoga. Hatha yoga is a discipline which focuses on improving flexibility, strength, and overall health of the body and mind. An emphasis is placed on breathing as a tool of self-awareness. Throughout the six-week session, classes progress (build) with yoga experience. More complex yoga poses are explored in isolation and in flowing sequences with other poses. Meditation and deep relaxation are included in the class. Each class fosters an atmosphere of calm, concentration, self-awareness and fun!

Karate
Kyokushin is a traditional Japanese style of karate that is known for its intense physical training and strong spirit. Participants from all experience levels can expect to be challenged in a supportive environment. Students can expect to learn punching and kicking technique and their practical applications in battle. As Kyokushin is also an art form, attention is paid both to the artistic display of technique in "kata", and the crushing power of technique while breaking boards, bricks, and other solid materials.
