Gail L. RileyCoordinator of Foreign Language Pedagogy Asbury 230 Professor Riley joined LFS in July 1997 as Coordinator of Foreign Language Pedagogy. She received her PhD in French from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with special certification in second language acquisition and teacher education. Recipient of the Emma Marie Birkmaier Award for doctoral dissertation research in Foreign Language Education from the American Council for Teachers of Foreign Languages and the Modern Language Journal, her research focuses on second language reading development and assessment, and content-based language learning. She has published articles in scholarly journals such as the Modern Language Journal, Studies in Second Language Acquisition, and Language Testing. Professor Riley brings considerable experience in language teaching, curriculum development, and teacher education to LFS. She has been awarded numerous grants for the study, development, and implementation of Languages Across the Curriculum, a curricular initiative that integrates language study with the study of other disciplines. She comes to AU from Syracuse University, where she was a member of the French faculty and held the positions of Coordinator of Foreign Language Education and Director of Languages Across the Curriculum. |
