| Alumni Board Seeks Nominations for 2005 Alumni Awards We all know people who stand out above the rest. They're our successful, humble, community-serving friends and acquaintances whom we don't see that often because they're so busy, but who still greet us and anyone around with a warm, sincere smile. Those who know them have nothing but praise to share.
Now is the time to nominate such folks for the annual alumni awards. The Alumni Recognition Award is given to alumni who inspire the world around them through service to the community or a philanthropic mission. The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments. This year, the awards will be presented by President Ladner and the Alumni Board on Saturday, October 22, in the brand new Katzen Arts Center, during Alumni Weekend. If you know someone who deserves one of these prestigious awards, take a minute to fill out this nomination form and tell us why you think your friend should go into the AU history books as one of the alums to be remembered among the best. Last year's awards went to Jack Cassell, SOC/BA '77, president and CEO of Visual Aids Electronics Corps and a member of AU's Board of Trustees, and C. Payne Lucas, SPA/MA '61, cofounder and former president of Africare, the largest nonprofit specializing in aid to African countries. Nominations for this year's awards must be received by Friday, April 29. Questions? Contact Vanessa Yost at 202-885-5960 or involved@american.edu | ||
