The April 2005 edition of Ebony Magazine lets everyone else in on a secret that American University has known for a while now: Jasmine Stringer, KSB/BSBA '01 is on her way up. Featured in the article “30 Leaders of the Future,” Stringer shows that she is not only a leader in the AU community (as Atlanta alumni chapter leader) but she has also been working her way up the corporate ladder. As a corporate account manager for General Mills responsible for a $100 million account, Stringer is the youngest person ever - and the first African-American - to hold her position. She always has her eye on the future.

“I love my current assignment. I hope to expand into sales and marketing in the immediate future though, maybe even do an international assignment,” says Stringer.

International business was one of the main reasons Stringer came to AU. “I fell in love with the campus and loved the strong international focus.”

Although a busy business woman, she still finds time to give back to her hometown community, a key component in Ebony selecting her as one of their future leaders. Stringer is a member of the advisory board for After School Classé and volunteers for INROADS Atlanta and Dress for Success.

Ebony selected Stringer from nominations from across the United States. They looked at individuals under 30 who had a “solid educational foundation,” and have “established themselves as leaders or are demonstrating that they have what it takes to be a good leader.”

Stringer credits her mother for her well-rounded character. “My mother is my role model. She is beautiful, smart, and she truly lives her life’s purpose.” It’s obvious Jasmine is following in her footsteps.
