Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies Conference

Join AU’s Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies (CCPS) and the Center for American Progress and the Committee for Economic Development for a one-day conference on

“The Current State of Congressional Oversight”

Speakers will discuss congressional oversight of the executive branch and provide an evaluation of the job Congress has done in recent years. Speakers include:

  • Representative Henry Waxman, Ranking Member of the House Government Reform Committee;
  • Walter Oleszek, senior specialist, Congressional Research Service;
  • David Walker, comptroller general, Goverment Accounting Office (GAO);
  • Eleanor Hill, former Inspector General, Department of Defense and Partner, King & Spalding;
  • Clark Kent Ervin, director, Homeland Security Initiative, the Aspen Institute.

Established in 1979, CCPS provides an integrated teaching, research, and study program focusing on Congress and the presidency and the interactions of these two basic American institutions. The Center for American Progress is a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America that ensures opportunity for all. The Committee for Economic Development (CED) is an independent, nonpartisan organization of business and education leaders dedicated to policy research on the major economic and social issues of our time and the implementation of its recommendations by the public and private sectors.

Seating is limited and reservations will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis (students are welcome to attend). A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
